CHOOSING A COURSE

A useful way to compare study options

A practical checklist for looking beyond a course title and comparing the details that affect your decision.

Begin with your purpose

Write down what you want to learn and what you want the qualification to help you do. This gives your research a direction without deciding the answer too early.

Read the course, not only the headline

Open the institution’s current course page and look at the details. Record the source and the date you checked it.

  • Modules, optional subjects and assessment
  • Qualification level and entry requirements
  • Teaching format, location and facilities
  • Duration, fees and other expected costs

Keep your shortlist manageable

Choose a small number of options to investigate properly. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions. Mark anything that needs an answer from the institution.

Take questions to your adviser

Bring your course links and the differences you have noticed. Your next conversation will be more useful when it begins with the choices you are actually considering.

TAKE A USEFUL NEXT STEP
